В предыдущем (подзамочном) посте я упомянул про "Скотский хутор" Джорджа Орвелла. Вам будет, наверное, интересно узнать, что книга, которую многие считают одной из основных публикаций антикоммунистичской литературы, таковой, скорее всего, не является.
Написанная в 1943 году, книжка дождалась публикации лишь в 1945, когда война закатилась за горизонт. Четыре года назад вдова Томаса Эллиота (хором читаем The Waste Land и подражаем!), опубликовала его 4 года назад. Поэт и издатель обвиняет знатного интербригадовца и симпатизанта (знаю, слово не совсем по русски звучит, но это заимствование) ПОУМ в том, что на самом деле лежало на поверхности: в троцкизме ).

Читаю сейчас в метро любопытную книжку "Watching the English. The Hidden Rules of English Behaviour" Kate Fox. Дошла до главы "Linguistic class codes", узнала много нового, сравнила с тем, что писала раньше, нашла ошибки у себя.
